The prime ministers of Latvia and Ukraine have agreed to meet in August
Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs and Ukraine’s newly appointed Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi held their first phone conversation and agreed to arrange a meeting in August.
According to “European Truth,” Kulbergs congratulated his Ukrainian counterpart on taking office. He said that during the 20-minute conversation, the two felt as if they were old acquaintances, particularly because of their similar business backgrounds.
The Latvian prime minister noted that the upcoming meeting should focus on the next steps under the agreement on drones. He also called Latvia Ukraine’s closest ally and its “voice” in the European Union and NATO.
Serhiy Koretskyi reported that he had discussed with Kulbergs the expansion of defense cooperation, the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense, support for the energy sector, and European integration. The Ukrainian prime minister thanked Latvia for its support, particularly for the medical treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen, and noted that Ukraine looks forward to Kulbergs’ visit in the near future.
On July 22, Koretsky also held talks with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Mihal, and on July 21, with Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius.
