The prime ministers of Poland and Ireland have criticized Hungary following the leak of a conversation between Szijjártó and Lavrov

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin have sharply criticized the Hungarian government following the release of a conversation between the foreign ministers of Hungary and Russia.

This was reported by The Guardian.

Tusk stated that the recordings confirm the “deeply alarming political dependence” of Viktor Orbán’s government and Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Moscow.

According to him, the content and tone of the conversation are unacceptable, and the situation itself indicates close coordination between Budapest and the Russian authorities.

He also added that such behavior appears to be a form of reporting to the Russian leadership, calling it “repugnant.”

At the same time, Tusk emphasized that the criticism does not apply to the Hungarian people.

Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin supported these assessments, stating that the situation is “sinister” and confirms suspicions that the Hungarian government is serving Russia’s interests within the EU.

He stressed that such relations within the European Union are unacceptable.

As a reminder, the publication VSquare obtained recordings of a conversation between Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó and Sergey Lavrov. During the conversation, strategic information regarding critical EU issues was provided to Russia.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó responded to the publication of recordings of his phone conversations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, ironically calling it “yet another great revelation.”
