President Abinader opens police training complex in the Dominican Republic
Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader on August 21, 2026, opened a new complex of the Higher Institute for Police Education (IPES). The institution is intended for the training and certification of the country’s National Police personnel. Construction costs exceeded 358 million Dominican pesos.
As The Rio Times reports, the complex was built by the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED). The new facility is part of the government’s program to transform and modernize the National Police.
Training infrastructure
The complex has 14 classrooms, a library and a data processing center. It also includes specialized laboratories for forensic computing, chemistry and physics.
The building has a faculty room, a hearing room and a multifunctional hall. It also provides premises for academic coordination, psychological support, student needs and the provision of primary medical care.
