The Syrian president has declared his country's neutrality amid the crisis in the Middle East
Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa has stated that he is doing everything possible to keep the country out of the current conflict in the Middle East between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
This was reported by Anadolu.
According to him, there have been no official contacts with Iran since the start of hostilities, and the government is carefully assessing the risks of becoming involved in regional military operations. Al-Sharaa emphasized that decisions are made with the interests of citizens in mind and with the aim of not provoking conflict with any of the parties.
The Syrian leader noted that the current situation in the Middle East is driven not by common sense, but by emotions, anger, and unpredictable political moves, which have already drawn several states into the conflict, particularly the Gulf countries. This compels Damascus to act with the utmost caution to avoid further casualties and destruction.
Al-Sharaa also emphasized that Iran faces problems due to its development of ballistic missiles and nuclear programs, as well as its attempts to influence other countries. He prefers diplomatic negotiations over the use of military force, as the conflict could have catastrophic consequences.
The president added that Syria will not become a direct target of the parties to the conflict and will remain outside the war unless it faces aggression, noting that the country has already paid too high a price for previous military actions.
