Germany has come up with a reason not to supply Taurus missiles to Ukraine
Ukraine no longer needs German Taurus long-range cruise missiles, said German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
According to the minister, the main priority now is to provide Ukraine with financial resources. He noted that Kyiv is set to receive funds from both the European Union’s loan program and a new support fund totaling approximately 70 billion euros, with Germany’s contribution to this package being the largest among individual countries. Ukraine has significantly ramped up its own production of long-range weapons, and Germany is focusing on funding Ukrainian production rather than supplying its own missiles.
Assessing the situation on the front lines, the minister noted that although the line of contact remains relatively stable, Ukrainian forces are increasingly successful in striking targets on Russian territory. In his assessment, the situation is better than ever before, as the front line shifts by several kilometers in either direction, but each time this is accompanied by incredible losses among Russian troops. Above all, Ukraine is increasingly able to strike directly at targets on Russian territory, successfully destroying oil refineries and military logistics facilities.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on March 25, 2026, during a speech in the Bundestag that he no longer considers it appropriate to supply Ukraine with Taurus long-range cruise missiles.
“Ukrainian weapons are more effective than the TAURUS,” said Merz.
