US President Donald Trump said at a state dinner in Washington honoring Chinese President Xi Jinping that relations between the United States and China have improved. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.

Trump said that he and Xi Jinping represent different systems, but ties between the peoples of the two countries remain. “As leaders of our two nations, President Xi and I both understand that we represent different systems, but the ties between our peoples endure, and we have never gotten along better,” the US president said.

The American president presented these remarks as a reflection of friendship between the two countries, despite longstanding differences between Washington and Beijing.

A gift for Xi Jinping

During the dinner, Trump also presented Xi Jinping with a gift created by an American artist. According to the US president, the gift was designed in personal collaboration with him and Melania Trump.

“In this spirit of friendship, it is my great honor to present President Xi with a gift created by an outstanding American artist, one of the greatest in the world, and designed in personal collaboration with Melania and me,” Trump said.
