Profits of China’s state-owned enterprises rose by 0.6% over seven months
The combined profit of China’s state-owned and state-controlled enterprises in the first seven months of 2026 reached 2.509 trillion yuan, or about $373 billion. This is 0.6% more than in the same period last year.
As ECNS reports, the data were released by China’s Ministry of Finance. The statistics do not cover first-tier state-owned financial enterprises and their subsidiaries.
Revenue declined
The operating revenue of China’s state-owned and state-controlled enterprises in January-July amounted to 46.447 trillion yuan, equivalent to approximately $6.9 trillion. Compared with the corresponding period of 2025, this figure decreased by 2.4%.

At the same time, the amount of taxes payable reached 3.662 trillion yuan, or about $544.3 billion. This is 5% higher than last year’s level for the first seven months.
Liabilities-to-assets ratio
As of the end of July, the liabilities-to-assets ratio of China’s state-owned and state-controlled enterprises stood at 65.6%. Over the year, the figure increased by 0.4 percentage points.
