A pro-Kremlin American journalist has asked Putin for Russian citizenship

American journalist and activist Christopher Helali, known for his pro-Kremlin statements, has appealed to Vladimir Putin to grant him Russian citizenship.

According to Halali, he has prepared a detailed letter to the Russian president.

“I wrote a four-page letter to President Putin in which I expressed my desire to become a citizen of the Russian Federation, described my contributions to Russia, and my work in Donbas,” he said.

In the letter, the journalist reportedly also described his activities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and called them a “contribution to Russia’s interests.”

Helali also repeated claims typical of Russian propaganda, stating that Western journalists are allegedly “scribes of the ruling class” and do not cover events in Donbas “objectively.”

Christopher Helali is an American activist and journalist who has repeatedly visited Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine and disseminated pro-Russian narratives in his reports.

He is known to be listed in the database of the Ukrainian resource “Myrotvorets” due to his trips to the occupied territories and his public support for Russian positions.

He made this statement to propaganda media on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
