Putin has ordered the police to track down those evading mobilization and military service

Putin has ordered the police to track down those evading mobilization and military service

Vladimir Putin has signed a new law requiring law enforcement agencies to conduct “preventive work” with citizens who do not wish to serve in the military and evade mobilization.

The new powers granted to law enforcement are aimed at tightening control over those subject to military service amid an ongoing war.

The official document has already entered into force in the aggressor country.

According to the text of the law, which was initiated earlier this year by the State Duma Committee on Defense and Security, the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ plan for preventive activities will include “preventing and suppressing evasion of the duty to defend the Fatherland,” as well as “countering the distortion of historical truth.”

The Russian authorities have introduced these changes into the federal law “On the Fundamentals of the System for the Prevention of Offenses in the Russian Federation.”

The authors of this legislative initiative justify the changes by citing the need to strengthen the state’s internal security. The Russian leadership is effectively shifting the responsibilities of military registration and enlistment offices to law enforcement agencies due to a significant shortage of mobilization resources.

Law enforcement agencies will gain broader levers of influence to exert pressure on the civilian population.

The drafters of the document specifically emphasize that service in the armed forces is mandatory for every man. This process will now be monitored at every stage of citizens’ lives.

Russian police will be able to legally pursue those who attempt to leave the country or go into hiding at their place of residence.
