Expansion of services
Etihad has operated in the German market since 2004 and currently runs 35 flights a week to Germany. The partnership with Condor is expected to add between 12 and 14 weekly flights at different stages.
According to Bastaki, the load factor on Etihad’s existing flights to Germany is about 90%, meaning that approximately nine out of ten available seats are occupied. The airline also plans to increase flight frequencies under the four points provided for by the bilateral air services agreement and is considering expansion to other German cities.
Etihad called Germany one of the key European markets for the airline and Abu Dhabi. According to the carrier, about 2,000 German companies have offices in the UAE, and many of them use the country as a base for operating in the markets of the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
