According to the latest polls, Trump’s approval rating was 33%. Matthew Green, a political science professor at The Catholic University of America, noted that some Trump supporters vote only when he himself is running. In his view, ratings in the low or mid-30s are traditionally associated with unsuccessful midterm elections for the president’s party.

Convention program
The convention at the American Airlines Center became the first national Republican convention specifically dedicated to the midterm elections.
