Russia shows no signs of being ready for peace amid massive attacks on Ukraine, says Rutte
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that Russia is showing no signs of ending its aggression against Ukraine, as evidenced by the regular, massive strikes on Ukrainian cities.
According to Rutte, the brutal attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian towns and cities are resulting in civilian casualties and significant destruction, which confirms the lack of any genuine intention to de-escalate the conflict.
At the same time, the NATO Secretary General emphasized that Ukraine, unlike Russia, seeks a peaceful resolution, which, he said, is confirmed by the presence of representatives from 32 NATO member states at the meeting in Kyiv.
“This is a strong sign of the North Atlantic Alliance’s unwavering commitment to our partnership and our steadfast support for Ukraine,” the NATO chief added.
During the discussions, the allies also analyzed the situation on the front lines and the current challenges facing Ukraine. According to Rutte, partners have already provided approximately $60 billion in aid under the PURL program, which is aimed at purchasing weapons for the Ukrainian army from the United States.
He also emphasized that NATO’s support for Ukraine will continue.
The day before, Mark Rutte also addressed young Russian citizens with a warning against participating in the war against Ukraine.

During his latest phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian leader Putin reportedly made it clear that he does not expect a peace agreement regarding the war against Ukraine to be reached by the end of the year.
Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, officially outlined the conditions under which the aggressor country is prepared to consider the possibility of ceasing hostilities in Ukraine.
