Ukraine has made significant progress in dismantling Russia’s military capabilities, to the extent that even the conduct of military exercises in Russia may, according to estimates, depend on Ukraine’s decisions. Against this backdrop, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte ironically commented on the situation surrounding the May 9 parade, stating that the Kremlin is forced to adapt to circumstances related to the war against Ukraine.
According to the Alliance’s Secretary General, the Ukrainian military is becoming increasingly successful both directly on the front lines and in eliminating Russia’s ability to continue the war.
He mocked the situation with the May 9 military parade in Moscow, noting that now the Russian dictator can only organize it based on an official decree from Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"You allowed him to hold a two-hour parade, but he finished in 1 hour and 55 minutes," Rutte emphasized.
The "Ukraine-NATO" Council and the Situation on the Front Lines
The NATO Secretary General said that the first meeting in the "Ukraine-NATO" Council format took place today. In his view, this is a strong signal of solid bilateral relations.
He also assured that the Alliance’s resolve to support Ukraine remains unwavering.
"Russia’s recklessness is nothing new. But as Ukraine continues to stand firm, innovate, and achieve victories on the battlefield, Russia is becoming increasingly desperate. Russia’s losses are significant—more than 30,000 per month,” Rutte emphasized.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made this statement during a joint press conference with the Ukrainian president in Kyiv.
