Rutte proposed that NATO allies allocate 0.25% of their GDP to support Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has proposed that Alliance countries allocate 0.25% of their GDP annually to aid Ukraine, according to sources.

This was reported by Politico.

The initiative was discussed during a closed-door meeting of NATO ambassadors late last month, as well as in preparation for the Alliance’s summit in Turkey, scheduled for July. According to sources, Rutte emphasizes the need to make support for Ukraine more stable and predictable.

If the proposal is approved, the volume of aid to Ukraine could increase significantly. At the same time, sources note that the idea has already met with skepticism in a number of countries, including France and the United Kingdom, and the final decision must be agreed upon by all Alliance members.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy and Rutte discussed missile deliveries and the expansion of the PURL program.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan. This is their first meeting since the start of the full-scale war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Armenia to discuss steps toward ending the war. The head of state expressed readiness for a new round of trilateral meetings to achieve a stable ceasefire and reliable security guarantees.
