The rate of Telegram blocking in Russia has reached nearly 100%

According to the international research project OONI, by the morning of April 10, the anomaly rate indicating possible signs of a Telegram block had reached 95%.

This is reported by Russian propaganda media.

It is noted that this is the highest level since the new restrictions on the messenger’s operation in Russia began. Currently, Telegram is reportedly facing more severe blocking than WhatsApp and Signal.

The services Downdetector and “Sboy.rf” also recorded a sharp increase in complaints about Telegram’s performance on the morning of April 10. Users are reporting issues with sending messages and uploading media files.

As a reminder, the Russian State Duma has complained about communication issues due to the blocking of Telegram.

Amid attempts to block hostile information resources in Russia, a massive service outage occurred again on April 6, particularly affecting state-run public services.

A similar outage occurred in Russia on April 3; telecom experts directly linked it to the operation of equipment designed to block unwanted resources. Founder Pavel Durov stated that attempts by Russian authorities to restrict VPNs led to a massive failure in the national payment system.

Russia ranked second-to-last in the global internet freedom index following increased censorship and blocking measures, including the blocking of the Telegram messaging app.
