Russia is preparing a new offensive in the southeast, deploying its reserves
Ukrainian intelligence reports that Russia is preparing a new offensive in southeastern Ukraine, deploying additional reserves. According to estimates by the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), the occupiers plan to add about 20,000 more troops to the forces already deployed to increase pressure on Ukrainian positions. This information comes from a statement by journalist Christopher Miller, who cites a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
The report notes that there are already about 680,000 Russian troops on Ukrainian territory, and this force may be further reinforced with strategic reserves. Intelligence sources emphasize that the Russian command continues to prioritize the full occupation of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, viewing this direction as key for further operations. It is there, according to estimates, that the enemy is attempting to exert maximum pressure on Ukrainian defenses.
A representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate, quoted by Miller, stated: “Russia is preparing a new offensive in southeastern Ukraine, using its strategic reserve to add 20,000 fresh troops to its forces inside the country.”
The report also emphasizes that the enemy has already formed a significant force on Ukrainian territory and continues to build it up to carry out its plans. According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia aims to achieve its objectives within a specific timeframe.
Another quote from the report: “With approximately 680,000 troops on the ground, Russia aims to capture the Donbas by September,” the GUR noted. Ukrainian intelligence emphasizes that the situation remains dynamic, and the enemy continues to regroup its forces for a possible intensification of hostilities in the southeast.
Additionally, Russia has intensified attacks on ports and ships in the Ukrainian maritime corridor.
Starting in the evening of April 14, Russian occupiers launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, using 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 324 drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized most of the targets, though some hits were recorded.
In the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers discovered the warhead of a Russian Iskander-K missile. A controlled destruction of the munition is planned at the site.
On the night of April 15, three people were injured in Dnipro and the surrounding region as a result of Russian drone strikes, and damage to civilian infrastructure was reported.
