Russia expelled Italy's military attaché
Russia expelled the military attaché at the Italian Embassy and one of his staff members. The Italian Foreign Ministry called this decision unfounded.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that Moscow took this step in response to the expulsion of two Russian military attachés.
According to him, Italy had previously expelled the Russian diplomats after they were caught engaging in espionage activities that Rome assessed as a threat to national security.

As a reminder, a former intelligence officer was detained in Italy on suspicion of spying for Russia.
