Russian communication base stations were found to be 25% slower than their foreign counterparts

Russian communication base stations were found to be 25% slower than their foreign counterparts

Russian base stations, which provide wireless connectivity between mobile phones and the network, transmit data 25% slower than their foreign counterparts and are 70% more expensive

Mobile operators are currently conducting active testing of equipment from two key Russian developers, but the test results show a significant lag behind global standards

According to Anokhin, the company is testing base stations from two domestic manufacturers—Yadro and Irteya.

According to published data, it took the developers a considerable amount of time and effort for the equipment samples to demonstrate even minimal functionality under real-world conditions.

His presentation indicated that the minimum acceptable level of station performance was not achieved until April 2026.

This required rewriting the software multiple times, but even these steps did not fully resolve the existing hardware issues.

The current versions of the towers have significant compatibility limitations and are unable to support modern high-speed mobile internet standards without additional modifications.

In their current form, the towers do not support all required frequency bands; specifically, for basic LTE functionality, the software still needs to be refined.

This makes it impossible to use them in large industrial centers with high subscriber density.

In addition to low data transfer speeds, Russian technological developments demonstrate unsatisfactory performance stability and are extremely inefficient in terms of resource consumption.

The stations provide 30% fewer successful connections and consume 1.5–2.5 times more electricity compared to existing market solutions. Due to these parameters, operating the equipment is unprofitable for operators.
