Russian insurers have begun actively withdrawing funds from their businesses amid the war
At the end of 2025, Russian insurance companies allocated a record amount for the war years—215.9 billion rubles—to dividend payments. This is 23% more than the previous year, while the sector’s total profit grew by only 5.2%.
According to the rating agency NKR, the share of profits that insurers distributed to shareholders rose to 43%. This means that companies allocated nearly half of their earnings to dividends.
At the same time, several insurance companies paid out even more to shareholders than they earned in profit for the year. Experts note that such payments may be made using reserves accumulated in previous years; however, if repeated, they could reduce the companies’ financial reserves.
This is reported by Russian propaganda media.
