Roscosmos has started selling advertising space on rockets due to the loss of foreign contracts
Amid declining revenues from international cooperation, the Russian state corporation Roscosmos has begun placing advertisements on space rockets. In the first months of 2026, advertisements were featured for the defense bank PSB, the “Kofemania” restaurant chain, “Russkaya Media Group,” and the Russian Olympic Committee.
This was reported by Russian Telegram channels.
In the first four months of 2026, the state corporation advertised the defense bank PSB, the “Kofemania” restaurant chain, the “Russian Media Group” (RMG) radio holding, and the Russian Olympic Committee in this manner, a Roscosmos representative said. Meanwhile, a total of four rocket launches have been conducted from the Baikonur Cosmodrome since the beginning of the year.
Prior to this, Russian authorities passed a law allowing the state corporation to place advertisements on rockets starting January 1, 2026. The cost of such a service is determined by a special formula approved by the government. It was expected that potential annual revenue from advertising on “space equipment” could amount to up to 205 million rubles, and from placement on “space infrastructure” facilities—up to 5 million.
How much Roscosmos has received for integrations already carried out has not been disclosed. However, a source for Vedomosti noted that advertising revenue accounts for a small share of the state corporation’s total revenue from commercial activities.
By the end of 2025, Roscosmos had carried out only 17 launch vehicle launches.
As a reminder, the Falcon 9 launch vehicle recently successfully delivered a group of 29 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit, launching from Cape Canaveral in Florida.
As a reminder, SpaceX is announcing a major upgrade to the Starlink network.
SpaceX will also surpass the 10,000-satellite mark for Starlink.
