Investigation links Babochki to media projects and Press TV — Jerusalem Post

Israel’s Jerusalem Post published a report on an Honest Reporting investigation into a network of media projects that, according to the organization, was funded or supported by Babochki Collective. The collective was created in July 2023 by James Cox “Fergie” Chambers and several of his associates. In October of that year, Chambers founded the US chapter of Palestine Action, Palestine Action US.

Funding of media projects

According to Honest Reporting, Babochki Collective’s financial records indicate a transfer of $350,000 to the nonprofit media organization Atlanta Community Press Collective on October 9, 2023. The Atlanta media outlet also lists Babochki among its donors.

Chambers stated that the collective provided three grants to the anti-Zionist outlet Mondoweiss: two during Babochki’s first three months of operation and another $20,000 in October 2023. Mondoweiss published materials under the Palestine Action US byline, including the group’s manifesto from May 2024. It called for a shift from protests and blockades to “sabotage and dismantling” infrastructure that the authors described as connected to genocide.

The investigation also lists Nairobi-based Sovereign Media among projects supported by Babochki. In a post on social media platform X in February 2026, Sovereign Media said it was funded by Babochki Collective, while noting that Chambers does not influence its editorial work. The outlet also reported $1 million in donations from Chambers and Babochki for Palestinian needs.

Sovereign Media is part of a media coalition with Vox Ummah, an Islamic anti-imperialist website created in May 2025 with Chambers’ support. Vox Ummah’s editor and political director is Shabbir Rizvi, who also writes for Sovereign Media and is a Babochki member.

According to Honest Reporting, Rizvi is also a contributor to Al Mayadeen, which the source characterizes as a media outlet supporting Hezbollah, and to Iranian state media outlet Press TV. Honest Reporting told the Jerusalem Post that such contacts demonstrate links between the Babochki-supported media coalition and Iranian state media.

Palestine Action was founded in the United Kingdom in 2020. The organization’s British chapter was banned in the United Kingdom in 2025, and in August 2026 the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions on it. The US chapter, Palestine Action US, does not have this status.

Chambers is also in Spain in an extradition case to the United States over allegations of possible financing and support for Hamas. According to his partner Stella Schnabel, as cited by The Irish Times, he is accused of providing Hamas with $7.5 million in funding.
