Saudi Arabia says it intercepted missile targeting Riyadh — Anadolu Agency
The Saudi-led coalition operating in Yemen said that Saudi Arabia’s air defense forces intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by Yemen’s Houthis toward the country’s capital, Riyadh. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.
Saudi coalition statement
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki said that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces intercepted the missile after it was launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh. He also said that the group had attempted to attack civilians and civilian objects in Bisha, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu, but Saudi air defenses thwarted these attempts.
According to al-Maliki, the coalition leadership reserves the right to take measures it considers necessary to deter Houthi attacks in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Houthi statement and previous attacks
Earlier, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said that the group had carried out two operations involving a large number of ballistic and cruise missiles and drones. According to him, one operation targeted facilities he described as sensitive in Riyadh, while the other targeted facilities of the Saudi Aramco oil company in the coastal city of Yanbu.
Earlier that day, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense service issued an alert in Riyadh and neighboring Al-Kharj for the first time during this wave of alerts. Authorities initially did not specify the nature of the threat. In recent days, Saudi Arabia has faced a series of missile and drone attacks linked to the Houthis. In Taif on Thursday, debris from an intercepted drone killed one person and injured two others.
