An indictment has been prepared against former Polish Defense Minister Macierewicz
The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw has prepared an indictment against Antoni Macierewicz, Poland’s former defense minister and current member of the Sejm. The case concerns his statements directed at the leadership of Poland’s Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW), according to “European Truth,” citing RMF 24.
During a Sejm session on September 11, 2025, Macierewicz called the head of the SKW, Brigadier General Dr. Jarosław Strużyk, and his deputies “Russian agents.” He also claimed that they had collaborated with the intelligence services of Russia, an aggressor state.
According to the prosecutor’s office, these statements could have undermined the trust in these officials necessary for them to perform their official duties, as well as discredited them in the eyes of the public. On April 30, the Sejm lifted Macierewicz’s parliamentary immunity in this case.
The remarks were made during a debate on the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones. In the transcript of his speech, Macierewicz stated: “This was no accident; this was not a one-time incident; this was the beginning of a war.” His statement regarding the leadership of the SKW was cut short due to commotion in the chamber.
Separately, last September, Macierewicz was charged with disclosing classified information, abuse of authority, and improper storage of classified materials. This case relates to the period when he headed the subcommittee on the re-investigation of the Smolensk disaster; in December, the case was referred to court.
