Sweden has delivered the Caffa, a confiscated vessel belonging to Russia's shadow fleet, to the port of Trelleborg

The dry cargo ship "Caffa," which was en route to St. Petersburg, Russia, was officially seized by Swedish authorities and taken to the port of Trelleborg.

This was reported by the Sweden Herald.

The decision to move the vessel was made by local police to conduct a detailed inspection and further investigative actions.

According to Port Director Malin Collin, it is currently unknown how long the ship will remain in Trelleborg.

At this time, the dry cargo ship is empty, but it is scheduled to undergo a thorough inspection for technical malfunctions and violations of maritime law.

“The police are responsible for this operation. It was they who made the decision to bring the vessel to the nearest port,” Malin Collin noted in a comment to Swedish media.

The seizure took place following an official request from Ukraine for legal assistance.

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are investigating the vessel’s involvement in the illegal export of stolen Ukrainian grain from the occupied territories, specifically from the port of Sevastopol.

“The cargo ship is empty and will be thoroughly inspected by police officers,” confirmed Niklas Andersson, a representative of the investigative department of Sweden’s National Operations Directorate.

In addition to its sanctions status, the vessel is suspected of flying a false Guinean flag and systematically violating maritime safety regulations.

Most of the Caffa’s crew are Russian citizens, and the ship’s captain has previously faced charges of using forged documents.
