Water supply cut off in Bodaybo, Russia, due to an accident

In the town of Bodaybo in the Irkutsk Region of the Russian Federation, the water supply has been cut off due to an accident. The water supply was interrupted after the "Rosa" floating pumping station was washed ashore during the ice drift on the Vitim River on the night of May 10.

This was reported by Russian media.

According to utility services, the pump was successfully restarted, but its capacity is insufficient to fully supply the city with water. Currently, authorities are considering options to connect backup equipment or install additional pumps, including with the participation of companies in the gold mining industry.

Due to the situation, kindergartens in the city are closed from May 12 to 15, and schools have switched to distance learning. Residents are advised to use only boiled or bottled water, which, according to local media reports, has become significantly more expensive.

Earlier, in January 2026, Bodaybo was already left without heating and water supply due to accidents in the utility system; at that time, a state of emergency was declared in the city.

Russians experienced a disruption in television networksdue to the failure of the “Express-AT1” satellite.

As a reminder, a Russian satellite was destroyed in orbit for unknown reasons, creating a cloud of debris.

The Russians also lost a reconnaissance satellite in space.
