Sibiga met with the leader of the Belarusian opposition in Yerevan

Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga met with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of the Belarusian democratic opposition in exile, on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan.

He shared this on his social media accounts.

Sybiga noted that during the meeting with Tsikhanouskaya, they discussed the situation in Belarus and the growing security threats from Russia due to its presence on Belarusian territory.

"Moscow is increasingly dragging Belarus into its war against Ukraine, turning it into a platform for aggression—not only against our country, but against all of Europe. It is important that the Belarusian people do not become hostages of the Lukashenko regime, which bears full responsibility for facilitating this aggression," Sibiga wrote.

He noted that Ukraine will continue to cooperate with democratic forces in Belarus “for the sake of regional stability, security, and a future where Belarus is a contributor to peace, not war.”

Sybiha also expressed his conviction that sooner or later Belarusians will free themselves from the rule of Lukashenko’s authoritarian regime and that a free, independent Belarus “will take its rightful place in the European community of democratic nations.”

Sybiha responded to the scandal surrounding the Venice Biennale.

Zelenskyy and Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze met for the first time since the start of the war.
