Kadyrov's son has returned to the public eye with a new military rank
The son of Chechnya’s leader, 18-year-old Adam Kadyrov, has appeared in the public eye for the first time in a long while.
After disappearing for several weeks, amid rumors of serious injuries sustained in an accident, the young man appeared at an official event in Grozny, showcasing not only a change in his appearance but also yet another absurd “career” achievement.
In recent months, there has been silence surrounding Kadyrov Jr. According to Russian opposition media, in mid-January he was involved in a serious car accident in Grozny, after which he was urgently flown to Moscow.
It was reported that the driver of the other car died, while Adam himself had his spleen removed and was diagnosed with a fractured jaw.
In recent footage from a meeting of the Chechen Security Council, which he formally heads, the young man appears “noticeably thinner,” which may be the result of a strict diet following the surgery.
In addition to the visual changes, the audience’s attention was drawn to the epaulets on the young man’s military uniform. At 18 years old, Adam Kadyrov has “risen” to the rank of major.
This sparked a wave of sarcasm even in Russian social media circles, as in the Russian Federation, one typically needs at least 8–10 years of service or a degree from a higher military institution to earn a major’s star.
There is no evidence that Kadyrov Jr. even attended classes at the academy.
