UAE air defense systems have shot down more than 2,000 enemy targets in three weeks — Forbes
The United Arab Emirates has transformed into a veritable air fortress, successfully repelling attacks from Iran on an unprecedented scale.
According to Forbes, the country was fully prepared for the current conflict thanks to a far-sighted air defense development strategy that has been in the works for forty years.
Since hostilities intensified on February 28, 2026, the Emirates have become the primary target for missile strikes and drone raids.
“Abu Dhabi, to a certain extent, has been preparing for such a war for 40 years and has accordingly created a powerful air defense system,” military analysts note.
The UAE Ministry of Defense has officially confirmed that the numerous explosions heard by residents in various regions of the country are the result of the successful work of the air defense forces.
All enemy targets are intercepted by modern air and missile defense systems before they even reach residential areas.
As of Friday, March 20, 2026, UAE defense forces have demonstrated impressive effectiveness, neutralizing 338 ballistic and 15 cruise missiles.
In addition, over 1,700 kamikaze drones—which the enemy deployed en masse to wear down the defense system—were destroyed.
The foundation of this layered defense is the American THAAD systems, which are capable of intercepting dangerous ballistic missiles at high altitudes.
As a reminder, Iran has already launched nearly 30 missiles and drones at the UAE today.
The UAE also intercepted 13 missiles and 27 drones in a single day.
