In Russia, security forces destroyed a farmer's livestock after he threatened to commit suicide

In the Novosibirsk Region of the Russian Federation, law enforcement and veterinary authorities culled all the livestock belonging to farmer Petr Polezhaev of the village of Chernokury, who had previously threatened to commit suicide.

This was reported by the publication “People of Lake Baikal.”

The Polezhaevs’ farm was the last remaining in the village where all livestock had not yet been destroyed. The day before, on March 22, law enforcement officers had already arrived at the scene, but at that time, the farmer doused himself with gasoline and threatened to set himself on fire if the destruction of the animals began, causing the special services to temporarily retreat.

According to a family acquaintance, local residents were ready to defend the farmer, but later the couple likely agreed to stop resisting.

She also noted that the family may have been pressured by both the authorities and their relatives, who urged them not to risk their lives.

Earlier, the St. Petersburg authorities officially announced restrictions on mobile internet access, citing security measures as the reason.

Internet access was lost in the building of the Russian State Duma amid widespread network restrictions in Moscow.
