How many and what kind of ships did Trump send to Iran? — CNN

At the direction of U.S. President Donald Trump, the U.S. Navy has launched a large-scale operation to completely isolate Iran from the sea.

CNN reports this.

Fifteen ships of various types are participating in the blockade of strategic waterways, forming a powerful strike force in the region.

The main force of the operation is the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which is supported by 11 guided-missile destroyers, including the Bainbridge, John Finn, and Michael Murphy.

This fleet composition allows the U.S. command to fully control the movement of vessels and block maritime communications.

“The ships are deployed throughout the U.S. Central Command’s area of operations. The exact location of each vessel is kept secret for security reasons,” sources in the Department of Defense note.

In addition to the strike ships, an amphibious ready group consisting of the ships Tripoli, New Orleans, and Rushmore has been deployed to the blockade.

Military analysts emphasize that the concentration of 11 destroyers in a single area is an unprecedented move, indicating preparations for a protracted standoff.

Washington is currently not officially commenting on the timeframe for this operation, maintaining strategic ambiguity.

The situation is further exacerbated by the presence of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford in the eastern Mediterranean.

Once repairs in Greece are complete, this ship could reinforce the main blockade force by passing through the Suez Canal or circumnavigating the African continent.

Iran has vowed to sink U.S. ships in response to the port blockade

The U.S. has launched a full-scale naval blockade of Iranian ports, and President Donald Trump has warned of the immediate destruction of any vessel attempting to breach it.

The U.S. announced the start of mine clearance operations in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, U.S. warships have passed through the strait for the first time since the start of the war without Iran’s approval.
