The U.S. plans to withdraw 5,000 troops from a base in Bavaria — BR

The United States plans to reduce its military presence in Germany by withdrawing approximately 5,000 troops.

This was reported by BR, citing sources in the U.S. Army.

The unit in question is the Stryker Brigade, which is based in Vilzach in the state of Bavaria, near the Grafenwöhr training area. According to sources, there were previous plans to withdraw this unit during Donald Trump’s first term in 2020, but those plans were not carried out at the time.

At the same time, it is noted that the reduction does not mean a complete withdrawal of the U.S. presence. After the withdrawal of some forces, about 8,000 U.S. troops will remain in Grafenwöhr.

In addition, the U.S. continues to invest in the base’s infrastructure—in particular, new housing for military families is being built there.

As a reminder, the Pentagon is withdrawing some U.S. troops from Germany.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington may reduce its military presence not only in Germany but also in other European countries, including Italy and Spain.
