US proposes mineral resource deals for medical aid in Zimbabwe and Africa

The United States has offered Zimbabwe and other African countries to transfer mineral resource projects in exchange for medicines and funding for healthcare workers. Previously, this aid was provided free of charge through the World Health Organization, but the US later withdrew from the WHO.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has ordered the conclusion of negotiations with the US on a healthcare financing agreement worth $350 million. Similar bilateral agreements are being promoted in other African nations under the America First Global Health Strategy, which guarantees full funding for leading medical supplies, personnel, and epidemiological monitoring systems.

These agreements may reshape international medical aid in Africa, shifting dependence away from multilateral organizations toward bilateral arrangements with the US.
