The United States and Iran continue to be at odds over ending the war in the Middle East. A high-ranking Iranian source reported that no progress has been made in negotiations to restore the interim agreement signed in June.
The U.S. accuses Tehran of failing to comply with agreements to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran accuses Washington of refusing to lift the blockade of its ports and return frozen assets.
In addition, the Iranian side denied reports of a possible extension of the 60-day deadline for reaching a final agreement on the nuclear program and sanctions, stating that the U.S. itself violated and effectively abandoned the interim agreement just a few days after it was signed.
