The U.S. called for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations between Ukraine and Russia at the UN
During a UN Security Council meeting, the United States called for an immediate ceasefire and the resumption of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia to achieve a long-term peaceful settlement.
According to him, the full-scale war continues to cause enormous human casualties and negatively affects the entire world.
The American diplomat emphasized that many casualties could have been avoided if Russia had responded earlier to the international community’s calls to cease hostilities.
“Too much blood has been shed. The world is paying a high price because of this war. It must end. The U.S. once again calls for an immediate ceasefire, as well as for Russia and Ukraine to negotiate in good faith a long-term settlement of this conflict,” Dan Negrea stated.
The U.S. representative also emphasized that Washington is prepared to continue actively participating in diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war and to facilitate negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.
“The United States is ready to play a constructive role in achieving this outcome and to facilitate negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv. Our commitment to peace in Ukraine is unwavering,” the American diplomat emphasized.

On Monday, July 27, the United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting in response to Russian strikes on civilian vessels and Ukrainian infrastructure in the Black Sea. Ukraine initiated the meeting.
As a reminder, Ukraine’s Acting Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that Russian attacks on civilian vessels in the Black Sea could trigger a sharp rise in global food prices and hit the poorest countries hardest.
In the Black Sea, Russia attacked a foreign merchant ship flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda. One person was killed, and three others were injured.
