Musk Is Preparing to Fund Republicans in the Congressional Elections — Axios
Billionaire Elon Musk is relaunching his political action committee, America PAC, through which he plans to support Republican candidates in the 2026 U.S. congressional midterm elections.
According to Axios, the fund will focus on voter outreach, digital advertising, and mail campaigns. The primary focus will be on the conservative electorate, which traditionally turns out at lower rates in non-presidential election years.
Musk is currently in talks with U.S. President Donald Trump’s team regarding the nature of his involvement in the election campaign. The billionaire’s representatives have not disclosed how much he plans to allocate to support Republicans, but significant funding is expected.
In 2024, through America PAC, Musk spent over $260 million to support Trump’s presidential campaign. This made him the largest individual political donor in a single election cycle in U.S. history.
According to Axios, Musk’s new contributions could strengthen the Republican Party’s financial position ahead of the midterm congressional elections, scheduled for November 3, 2026.
Previously, after several months of working in the Trump administration as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk had a conflict with the president over budget policy. He also spoke about the possibility of creating a third political party. However, their relationship subsequently improved, and in late 2025, Musk resumed his financial support for the Republican Party.

As a reminder, ahead of the U.S. midterm congressional elections scheduled for November 3, 2026, the Republican Party has faced a significant decline in mobilization among its “core” electorate. One in five of its supporters will either not vote or support the Democrats.
