The U.S. has spent about $40 billion on military operations against Iran, according to CNN
The Pentagon’s spending on military operations against Iran has already reached approximately $40 billion. This figure includes the cost of ammunition used, lost equipment, and damage inflicted on U.S. military bases.
According to CSIS analyst Mark Kensian, the estimate does not include operational costs that were already factored into the U.S. Department of Defense’s budget for the current year.
“This amount includes the cost of missiles and other munitions used, equipment lost during the conflict, and damage inflicted on U.S. military bases. But it does not include operating expenses that were already factored into the Pentagon’s budget for the current year,” the expert noted.
According to analysts’ estimates, ammunition accounted for the largest expense category, totaling approximately $26 billion.
This was due to large-scale strikes using high-tech long-range weapons.
“For example, the United States fired about a thousand Tomahawk missiles, each costing about $2.5 million,” Kensian explained.
CSIS analysts estimated that the first 100 hours of combat operations cost the U.S. budget about $3.7 billion.
Subsequently, daily costs began to gradually decrease due to a reduction in the intensity of the strikes and a slower rate of weapons use.
Earlier, U.S. media reported that the U.S. Department of Defense had requested $80 billion in additional funding from Congress.
The funds are intended to cover costs related to the military campaign against Iran, as well as other U.S. defense needs.
Experts note that further funding will depend on the duration of the conflict, the scale of military operations, and the extent of the use of precision-guided weapons.
CNN reports this, citing a report prepared for publication by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
