The U.S. has launched another strike against a drug traffickers' vessel in the Pacific Ocean
The U.S. military announced the destruction of another vessel that, according to their reports, was being used for drug trafficking in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
The operation was carried out on June 3 by the Southern Spear Combined Task Force under orders from the command.
“Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was transiting known drug trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific and was involved in drug trafficking operations,” SOUTHCOM stated.
According to the military, two men, referred to in the statement as “drug traffickers,” were killed in the strike. At the same time, it is emphasized that the U.S. military suffered no casualties.
According to The Washington Post, the total number of people killed in similar U.S. operations against vessels suspected of drug trafficking has exceeded 200, reaching at least 207 since the start of the campaign.
The operations, as noted, are being conducted as part of the fight against international drug cartels, which the U.S. officially designates as “drug-trafficking terrorist organizations.”
