The U.S. launched strikes against Iran after drones were sent toward the Strait of Hormuz

On the night of June 6, the U.S. military detected Iranian attack drones being launched toward the Strait of Hormuz. In response, the United States carried out strikes on targets inside Iran, despite the current ceasefire.

“A few minutes ago, CENTCOM forces shot down four Iranian attack drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz,” the U.S. stated.

According to the U.S. side, the drones posed a threat to regional maritime shipping, so the military quickly destroyed them.

Following the incident, U.S. forces struck Iranian Coast Guard radar stations in the Goruk area and on Qeshm Island.

CENTCOM explained that these actions were aimed at preventing further attacks.

“Subsequently, U.S. forces struck Iranian Coast Guard radar stations in Horuk and on Qeshm Island to prevent further attacks. U.S. forces remain vigilant and are prepared to respond to unwarranted Iranian aggression in self-defense,” the command emphasized.

The incident marked yet another escalation between Washington and Tehran during the ceasefire. Despite diplomatic efforts, the situation in the region remains tense, and the U.S. military has stated its readiness to respond swiftly to any threats to maritime security and its forces in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz is of particular importance, as a significant portion of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas supplies pass through it. Any military incidents in this area could impact the security situation and global energy markets.

This was reported by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on social media.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, held a closed-door meeting with leading American nuclear experts, during which they discussed the prospects for negotiations with Iran and a possible new nuclear deal.

Donald Trump criticized the U.S. House of Representatives’ decision to vote to limit his military authority on matters related to Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he does not rule out a personal meeting with Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who has become one of the country’s key figures following the change in leadership.
