The U.S. will halt the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Japan due to the war with Iran

The U.S. will halt the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Japan due to the war with Iran

The delivery of hundreds of Tomahawk missiles to Japan is in jeopardy due to the depletion of U.S. stockpiles amid the war with Iran.

Bloomberg reports this, citing sources.

According to the sources, Washington has warned Tokyo that the delivery of about 400 missiles, scheduled through 2028, could be disrupted.

The reason is the active use of Tomahawks during strikes on Iran—consumption has already exceeded more than two years’ worth of production.

Before the conflict began, the U.S. had about 4,000 such missiles, but production rates remain relatively low.

Japan’s $2.35 billion order is one of the largest foreign contracts in this sector.

At the same time, the U.S. is currently prioritizing meeting its own military needs within the context of the Middle East conflict.

Against this backdrop, Washington’s allies in Asia are expressing concern over the redeployment of resources and military forces to the Middle East.

During the war against Iran, the U.S. military deployed hundreds of Tomahawk cruise missiles and over a thousand JASSM air-to-ground missiles.

Israel has resumed bombing the southern suburbs of Beirut and continues airstrikes in southern Lebanon. One of the strikes hit an army checkpoint, killing a soldier.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also warned that any attempts to destabilize the country will be decisively stopped. The authorities are prepared to act decisively, including through arrests and the seizure of weapons. Aoun emphasized that no one in Lebanon wants a civil war, and those who try to take advantage of the situation will fail.
