Starmer Unveiled Britain's Defense Plan Worth Over $100 Billion
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer unveiled a new defense development plan that calls for increasing military spending to 80 billion pounds (over 105 billion dollars) per year by 2029.
The plan calls for raising defense spending to 2.7% of GDP by 2030. A significant portion of the funding will be directed toward the development of drones, autonomous systems, and artificial intelligence technologies.
According to Starmer, over the next four years alone, approximately 5 billion pounds will be invested in drone technology—this will be the UK’s largest investment in this area to date.
In addition, London plans to increase total security spending, including the protection of critical infrastructure, to 4.2% of GDP by the end of the decade.
