Court dismisses Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal – Reuters

A federal judge has dismissed President Donald Trump’s defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal over an article about his alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Reuters reported this, noting that Judge Darin Gales found no evidence of actual malice in the journalists’ actions. The dispute arose over a July 2025 publication claiming that Trump’s signature appeared on a greeting card sent to Epstein in 2003.

The president estimated the reputational damage from this information at a record $10 billion, calling the details about the card a fabrication. However, under U.S. law, a public figure must prove that the publication knowingly disseminated falsehoods or acted with criminal negligence, neither of which was found in the submitted materials. Despite the dismissal, the court allowed Trump to refine his arguments and file an amended complaint by April 27.

The publisher continues to insist on the reliability of its sources, while the president’s representatives call the document a fake. The situation is unfolding against the backdrop of active negotiations between Washington and Russia and Iran, which adds particular political significance to the case. Dow Jones lawyers state their readiness to continue defending the publication’s right to disclose information of public importance.

Sony will also produce a series about the Epstein case.

Lithuania will seek legal assistance from the U.S. in the Epstein case.
