Thousands of people took to the streets in Belfast to march against racism
In Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, thousands of people took part in a large-scale demonstration against racism following several days of unrest sparked by a high-profile stabbing.
Marchers carried signs reading “Hate is the only threat to our streets” and “Belfast against racism.”
The unrest began after a video of the attack, which took place on the night of June 8, went viral on social media. The footage shows a man stabbing a person lying on the street.
On June 10, a Sudanese national accused of the attempted murder of Stephen Ogilvie appeared in court. The victim remains in the hospital.
