Vance denied reports that $24 billion in Iranian assets had been unfrozen

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the peace agreement between Washington and Tehran does not provide for the automatic release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

According to him, reports in the media regarding this amount do not correspond to the text of the agreement.

“This figure is not mentioned in any of the texts of the agreement,” Vance emphasized on CBS.

He explained that the issue of frozen assets could be considered separately after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the parties.

Currently, the U.S. is prepared to discuss only a partial easing of sanctions against Iran, provided that Tehran fulfills its long-term commitments regarding its nuclear program.

Vance also said that the U.S. administration plans to release the full text of the agreement with Iran this week.
