Trump confirmed that he had a heated exchange with Netanyahu over Lebanon
U.S. President Donald Trump has officially confirmed reports that, during a recent phone call, he called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “crazy” and berated him. The main reason for the American leader’s emotional outburst was the latest escalation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon, which threatened to derail Washington’s strategic negotiations with Tehran.
The day before, the reputable publication Axios, citing its own insider sources, published details of this conversation. According to the journalists, Trump not only used profanity but also accused the Israeli prime minister of outright ingratitude in light of massive American support. Commenting on these reports, the U.S. president acknowledged the conversation, noting that he was more “a little indignant” that Netanyahu continues to wage war against Lebanon than he was angry.
Despite the harsh tone of the conversation, Donald Trump assured the American and international communities that he and Netanyahu continue to “get along well.” The White House chief shared that he had told his Israeli counterpart directly: “Bibi, we have to stop this.” In addition, Trump reacted very emotionally to journalists’ questions about whether Netanyahu had “tricked” him into having U.S. forces attack targets in Iran. The U.S. president categorically rejected such suggestions, stating unequivocally that he himself “started it,” referring to the initiation and conduct of the current military campaign in the Middle East.
Trump made these remarks during an appearance on the Pod Force One podcast, according to Reuters.
