Trump vows to campaign actively for Republicans ahead of midterm elections
US President Donald Trump has pledged to actively join the Republican campaign ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. During a White House dinner for congressional Republicans, he said he would travel extensively and support candidates in competitive races.
As Daily Maverick reports, Trump told lawmakers that he would support them through November and mentioned about 35 congressional races. Those attending the meeting included Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Tom Barrett, who represent some of the most competitive districts.
Trips to states
Earlier that day, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he planned to make many campaign stops. They include a trip to Alaska to support incumbent Senator Dan Sullivan. The president also said he would campaign for several gubernatorial candidates, but stressed the importance of the Senate and House of Representatives elections.
