Trump warned that the memorandum of understanding with Iran is not final
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the recently agreed-upon memorandum of understanding with Iran is not a final document, and the U.S. may resume bombing if the terms of the final agreement do not satisfy it.
According to the U.S. leader, the preliminary agreement, brokered by Pakistan and Qatar, is intended to end the four-month armed conflict in the Middle East and reopen the Suez Canal and the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking at the G7 summit in France, Donald Trump emphasized that if Iran does not behave appropriately during the upcoming 60-day negotiation process, the U.S. will immediately resume the use of military force. The official signing ceremony for the peace memorandum is scheduled for Friday in Geneva; however, the U.S. president noted that this document does not initially provide for the immediate lifting of economic sanctions against Tehran. For its part, the Iranian Foreign Ministry previously announced the end of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, and confirmed its readiness to begin fulfilling its obligations immediately after the agreements are officially sealed in Switzerland.
