A Z-blogger who spoke out against the Kremlin was sent to a psychiatric hospital

Russian Z-blogger Ilya Remeslo, who was previously detained in connection with a case involving “fake news” about the Russian Armed Forces, has been sent to the Serbsky Institute of Psychiatry in Moscow. Russian media outlets are reporting this, citing sources, and the information has been confirmed by his attorney.

The defense has not yet disclosed the reason for this decision. Remeslo had previously been admitted to a psychiatric hospital after criticizing the Russian leadership.

Ilya Remeslo, who is being held in custody in connection with a case involving the dissemination of “fake news” about the Russian army, has been sent to the Serbsky Institute of Psychiatry. The information was confirmed by the blogger’s lawyer, Sergey Badamshin. However, he did not explain the specific reason why Remeslo was admitted to the medical facility.

On Sunday, July 26, the lawyer posted a photo on Telegram taken at the entrance to the institute. According to him, he had to go there after encountering problems with a package intended for the blogger. “The person who was delivering the package to Remeslo had his passport confiscated and it wasn’t returned for an hour and a half,” Badamshin said.

Remeslo was detained in mid-July following searches of his home. He was charged under an article for allegedly spreading false information about the Russian army. According to Russian media reports, the blogger’s posts on Telegram served as the basis for the criminal case. On July 17, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow remanded him to pretrial detention. Earlier, his attorney reported that a hearing on the appeal against the arrest decision was scheduled for July 24.

In March 2026, Remeslo published a series of posts in which he sharply criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated that Putin should resign and also accused the Russian leader of crimes.

Following these statements, the blogger was sent to a psychiatric hospital. He spent about 30 days there before being released. It is currently unknown how long Remeslo will remain at the psychiatric institute or what specific medical procedures are being performed on him. This is according to reports in the Russian media.

As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.

The WOG gas station chain in Kyiv and the Kyiv region will temporarily suspend nighttime operations due to the increased risk of enemy shelling.
