Trump criticized the idea of free social services
During a conversation with reporters, U.S. President Donald Trump commented on his previous remarks about communism and sharply criticized the Democrats’ policies on expanding social programs.
During the conversation, the White House chief asked a reporter to read his old quotes, after which he moved on to criticizing initiatives being implemented in New York and other major U.S. cities that traditionally support the Democratic Party.
Commenting on the idea of a large-scale expansion of government support for the population, the U.S. president stated that, if he wanted to, he could easily outdo the proponents of such approaches.
“I would tell them: You’ll get free rent. You’ll get free housing. You’ll get free food. You’ll get everything for free. But, in the end, it all comes to an end, and it leads to death, destruction, and poverty 100% of the time,” Trump emphasized.
According to him, if he supported such a policy, he would become “the greatest communist in the world,” as he could promise citizens unlimited social benefits and payments.
Trump stated that the practice of providing a large number of free government services ultimately leads to economic problems and cannot be a long-term solution.
The American leader once again spoke out in defense of the market economy and the principles of free enterprise, which have traditionally been the foundation of the Republican Party’s economic agenda.
Separately, Trump commented on New York City Mayor Zoharan Mamdani, who represents the political movement “Democratic Socialists of America.”
The president noted that he could offer even more free programs than his political opponents, but he consciously supports a different approach to economic development.
According to Trump, promoting the ideas of free enterprise is much more difficult than promising citizens free services and government benefits.
The head of the White House emphasized that his political stance is based on supporting the capitalist model of development, which, in his view, ensures economic growth and creates new opportunities for citizens.
At the same time, the president stressed that populist promises of free benefits may seem attractive to voters, but are incapable of ensuring the country’s stable development in the long term.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio could form a very strong ticket in the 2028 presidential election. He said this in an interview with journalist Miranda Divine, noting that he considers such a political tandem “unbeatable.”

As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating among Americans has dropped to nearly its lowest point since his return to the White House.
At the same time, Trump once again repeated the threats he has been making in recent weeks: “If they agree, it’s over, and if not—we’ll bomb them.”
