Trump criticized Israel for the strike on Beirut
U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized the recent Israeli airstrike on Lebanon’s capital, Beirut.
The White House chief emphasized that this military operation came at an extremely inopportune time, as Washington and Tehran are currently as close as ever to signing a historic peace agreement.
According to the American leader, any further aggressive actions by key parties to the conflict must be immediately halted so as not to derail the complex diplomatic process.
He directly linked Israel’s military activity to the ongoing negotiations between the U.S. and Iran.
At the same time, the U.S. president confirmed that Washington unreservedly recognizes the Jewish state’s sovereign right to self-defense and to counter external security threats.
However, he described the retaliatory airstrike itself as “very minor and pointless.”
Trump specifically noted that no one was injured as a result of the Israeli strike, so this incident should not hinder the finalization of agreements with Tehran.
The White House chief expressed his conviction that the planned intergovernmental agreement has the potential to radically change the security architecture and bring long-awaited stability to the region, including Lebanon.
Against the backdrop of real prospects for a settlement, the U.S. leader called on all parties involved to completely cease hostilities. He warned military and political leaders against taking steps that could undermine the progress achieved.
The U.S. president shared his official position on the escalating situation in the Middle East on the social media platform Truth Social.
