Trump to convene a meeting to discuss possible actions regarding Iran — Axios

U.S. President Donald Trump plans to hold a meeting with his national security team this week to discuss possible military action against Iran. According to an Axios report on May 18, these discussions are taking place amid deteriorating diplomatic efforts and rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.

According to U.S. officials, Trump wants to reach an agreement that would end the conflict. However, Iran’s rejection of many of his demands and Tehran’s unwillingness to make significant concessions regarding its nuclear program have once again put the military option on the table.

“Trump is expected to convene his top national security team at the Situation Room on Tuesday to discuss military options,” two U.S. officials told Axios.

Another source also reported that on Saturday, Trump met with national security officials at his golf club in Virginia to discuss the situation in Iran.

Those present at the meeting included Vice President J.D. Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

In addition, Axios reports that on Sunday, Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. That conversation also concerned the situation in Iran.
